Photographic Workshops > Leeds Castle at Night
Monday 17th December 2018
Hailed as “The loveliest castle in the world,” Leeds Castle, in Kent, looks stunning at any time of the day and year but none more so than when illuminated under a crisp, night sky.
Please note: Due to the castle's age, unsurprisingly it undergoes almost constant restoration. There will be scaffold visible on the main towers during this workshop.
Leading up to Christmas, the castle looks absolutely wonderful at this time, decked out in all its refinery and, aside from photographing the exterior lit up as night falls, we will have exclusive access to its beautiful interior made up of The Library, Drawing and Dining Room and the Banqueting Hall, to name but a few. The workshop commences at 4pm and concludes at 7.30pm. With time on our hands there will plenty of opportunities to set up our tripods and capture its many stunning rooms. This workshop is the only opportunity you will ever have to photograph and experience Leeds Castle’s interior without tourists, innumerable restrictions and lingering security. Indeed, just to be inside, alone and at night is a very special experience.
Upon meeting at reception we will take the short walk down to the castle and wait for the light to fall. The optimum time for night photography is generally around 45 minutes after sunset and with sunset at around 4pm we will have lots of time to set up tripods and seek out compositions. I will, of course, be offering advice throughout the workshop on those settings most appropriate for night and interior photography.
Once satisfied with those memorable images we have created we will be met and escorted into the castle where you will have unprecedented access to the lower rooms, and since we will be the only group there you will be free to use tripods and flash.
It really goes without saying that this is a very special experience and little wonder why tickets year upon year sell very quickly for this workshop.
