A bespoke one‑to‑one photography workshop is an ideal opportunity to improve your skills as a landscape and/or close‑up photographer, or as a gift to a loved one in the form of a voucher. Drawing from more than 30 years as a professional, the day is designed to be highly informative and enjoyable in a very relaxed manner, allowing you to learn at your own pace without any group pressure or formality.

Suitable for absolute beginners, the more seasoned photographer or someone who isn’t especially comfortable in a group setting, the day can be easily tailored to suit your individual needs and level of experience. If you’re having issues with finding strong compositions, would like to perfect the art of long‑exposure or impressionist photography, need more clarity on the exposure ‘triangle’ or the use of graduated, polarising and ND filters, or perhaps would simply enjoy being guided to wonderful locations with a little tuition woven through the day while discussing all things photography, the decision is entirely yours. Through prior correspondence, we will, I’m sure, come up with the perfect itinerary.

PRE-WORKSHOP VIDEO CALL
Before the day itself, we’ll have a brief video call to discuss what you’d like to gain from the workshop and, by viewing a small selection of your images, I’ll be able to understand your experience and tailor the day accordingly.

LEE FILTERS
I have a full complement of Lee Filters, holders and adaptors, all of which you are very welcome to use during the workshop.

MULTI-DAY
As you can see through the numerous workshops I run, I have extensive experience throughout England, Wales and, indeed, Europe. Should Kent be a little too far away, or you’d prefer an alternative venue spread over two or more days in locations such as Snowdonia, Dartmoor or Yorkshire, I would be very happy to hear from you. Everything will be taken care of — accommodation, transport between locations and meals - leaving you to simply bring your suitcase, camera bag and an open mind.

GIFT VOUCHER
Photography workshop gift vouchers are available and make a wonderful present for someone interested in photography who wishes to understand more about their newfound passion, or for a seasoned practitioner who you feel would benefit from a day spent with me. Full details can be found here.

Workshop info

Thank you for dropping by and considering attending a workshop. I love nothing more than to pass on to others the knowledge I have gained over the last 30 years as a professional photographer and 15 as a workshop and tour leader. My group sizes are always small ensuring a fun and friendly group dynamic, lots of 'personal space' in which to photograph without too much fear of others getting in your way and as much tuition as you would like or feel that you need. I hope you can join me!

Although under the 'umbrella' of Workshops, please note there is a difference between the three types that I offer. To avoid any confusion, please see below.

Workshops

Those taking place in the UK are classed as Workshops where learning is the primary aim, and in the case of those which are multi-day residential, very often include image critique and post-processing sessions.

Tours

Overseas trips are classed as Tours where the logistics are all taken care of and where the emphasis is on getting you to great locations at the best time of the day. Since these may include hide photography and working in cold, windy conditions where one-on-one tuition isn't practical, these are less hands-on. However, prior to the hide session or upon arriving at a location, I will give advice and suggestions on composition, lens selection and exposure.

Creative Visions

Creative Visions is a new concept that I have designed to specifically nurture your artistic growth. They can take place in either the UK or abroad combining both workshop and tour principles. There will be critique and post-processing tutorials and, most importantly, you will be encouraged to go beyond the record and representational and instead produce more intimate creative interpretations.
