I am now offering a new kind of tour, but first a few lines on workshop and tour definitions. Speaking of my own, workshops are mainland UK based where learning is the primary aim and in the case of those which are multi-day residential very often include image critique and post-processing sessions. Overseas trips, on the other hand, are classed as tours where the logistics are all taken care of and where the emphasis is on getting you to great locations at the best time of the day. Although these are generally less hands-on, I always make sure that I am nearby and on hand to offer any help and advice that the participant might require. Unless poor weather (or other factors) forces us to remain indoors they rarely involve critique sessions and as photographers, we understand that poor weather to some is atmospheric to others and that it can, without warning, transform into something quite spectacular so I prefer to stay out as long as possible.
This is where my new kind of tour comes in which I have decided to call Creative Visions. Designed to specifically nurture the attendee's artistic growth, they will incorporate both workshop and tour principles where the group size is no more than 4, where there will be critique and post-processing tutorials and, most importantly, you will be encouraged to go beyond the record and representational and instead produce more personal creative interpretations. The first of these is to be held in Prague in October of next year and is currently displayed on my website, here. I've chosen Prague as it is a place that I know intimately and find, with every visit, to be as inspirational as my first twenty years ago.
