The Biesczcady Mountains are situated in the central European range of the Carpathian Mountains, Europes second largest mountain range after the Scandinavian Mountains. All the images you see here were taken in the Polish section of the national park which borders Ukraine and Slovakia. A sparsely populated region (5 persons per 475 km sq.), Bieszczady is a remote, wild area of rivers, meadows, waterfalls and mountains clad in old-growth beech forest and is one of Europe's true wild areas with fauna that can only be found in such a remote region with such species as European bison, wolf, lynx, brown bear, spotted eagle and ural owl.
