I'm beginning to lose confidence in an airline that for the last 20 years I have flown with on a very regular basis. As a photographer, flying with a carrier such as Easyjet that permits a generous carry-on allowance is extremely helpful and is one of the main reasons why I have used them. Prior to the pandemic, the only time my Easyjet flight was cancelled was due to a severe snowstorm in Prague some 15 years ago. Since March, however, I have had four flights cancelled and more recently a flight this coming October. We all know the reasons surrounding this and although pretty much all airlines have been affected by lay-offs and folk suddenly wishing to return to travel (they expected it to be incremental), Easyjet does seem to be cancelling more flights than most. Of course, they are still happy to take your money for future flights even though they know all too well that at the present time they don't have sufficient staff to man the aircraft! It does rather seem like bad business, doesn't it? For example, if I were to take your money for a planned photo-tour to Iceland for 6 months' time but hadn't yet sorted the guide and minibus and then nearer the commencement date had to cancel the tour as I wasn't able to find either, you'd be well within your rights to feel somewhat aggrieved.
In recent years, it was British Airways whose reputation was under question but I am now finding they are having far fewer issues and I am re-booking my cancelled flights with BA. The downside is that BA leaves from Heathrow as opposed to Gatwick which is around double the distance (90 mins) but they do have many more daily flights to choose from, have equally as much allowance and are cheaper! For the time being, until they sort themselves out, I won't be flying with Easyjet.
