By Emily Brontë
Fall, leaves, fall; die, flowers, away;
Lengthen night and shorten day;
Every leaf speaks bliss to me
Fluttering from the autumn tree.
I shall smile when wreaths of snow
Blossom where the rose should grow;
I shall sing when night’s decay
Ushers in a drearier day.
The following were made in a small woodland close to where I live in north Kent with a Nikon Z8 and a 105mm Micro-Nikkor. Captured within just a few hours on two mornings, separated only by a couple of days, each dawn arrived clear and crisp. All that remained for me was to listen closely - to notice quiet compositions and the subtle transformations of light.
"I genuinely felt as though the wood was not just my subject, but a participant - guiding my composition and rewarding my patience and curiosity. I was calm and fully present. I cannot describe it any other way."
