These tours take place in locations I haven’t previously visited. They are more affordable than future tours, and typically attract clients who have joined me in the past and who know me well enough to trust that from the moment they step off the plane, everything will be taken care of from airport transfers, accommodation and meals to briefings and hide allocations. Naturally, I will be present and available throughout the tour.

Just shy of a metre in length and 45cm in height, the Iberian lynx is the world's most endangered feline species. However, through enormous conservation efforts, numbers have risen from just 100 individuals in the early 2000s to more than 1100. And now, through using strategically positioned hides incorporating one-way glass overlooking watering holes, we now have the remarkable opportunity to photograph this incredibly beautiful species.

IBERIAN LYNX PHOTOGRAPHY
Activity is year-round, but taking into account Spain’s soaring summer temperatures and the requirement to stay in the hides for prolonged periods, I am running this Iberian lynx photo tour in autumn when it is much cooler, the sunrise and sunset times are more sociable, the light more flattering and vegetation more fresh. Also, there is still an excellent chance of having young lynx visit the pools. Of course, nothing in nature is ever guaranteed, but given you are in the very best place for eight hide sessions (morning and evening), you stand an excellent chance of returning home with some incredible photographs! IBERIAN LYNX HIDE PHOTOGRAPHY
On some occasions you may be sharing a hide with just one other person; on others, depending on the lynx’s activity, the whole group may be together. The local guides will decide on the day, as they know the animal’s movements far better than we do.

There will be two hide sessions per day (3-5 hrs in the morning and evening), meaning that you will receive eight in total. A tripod is required, and you will be shooting through very high-quality one-way glass, which has rapidly become the norm for photographing shy and elusive species such as the Iberian lynx. The lynx hides are spread across a substantial area, and in order for everyone to receive equal opportunities and obtain different perspectives, the group will be rotated daily. The highly experienced local guides will decide which hides we use based on the lynx's activity. 

There are no proper toilet facilities in the hides. Some have a screened‑off area, others don’t. If the whole group is in a large hide and someone needs to relieve themselves, we’ll do our best to make the situation as private as possible. Chaps will need to bring and use a pee‑bottle, and ladies may wish to use something like a wee‑she. It’s simply part of the experience - and by the end of the trip, we’re sure to know each other rather well!

Temperatures inside the hides are likely to be somewhere between 15 and 25 degrees, which, although warm, is considerably cooler than in summer when they often reach 40+, hence why this tour is held in autumn!
