In January of 2017 I spent 11 days in the far north, 8 of which were in the cold, quiet beauty of Finland’s largest National Park – Lemmenjoki which, in Sámi (Lapp), means Warm River. My good Finnish friend, Markus Sirkka, and I were snowmobiled more than 25km into its wild interior and from here we would ski and snowshoe while pulling our pulkkas (sleds) laden with equipment and overnight in wilderness cabins and tent. This was an experience like no other and one that will forever live in my memory.
