Cost excludes: Flights (circa £250), accommodation (circa £125pn), meals (circa £25 per day), entrance tickets into places of interest (circa £30) and airport transfers (circa £25 each way).
Accommodation:

As with any city, there are many hotels to suit everyone's pocket, and although you would be very welcome to stay where you please, I would like to recommend Hotel Kampa Garden and Archibald at the Charles Bridge which are extremely comfortable and are located just 200 metres from the famous Charles Bridge.

Fitness level: Moderate. By far the best way to experience Prague is on foot but we will, on occasion, use its highly efficient tram and, perhaps, metro system. So long as you don't have any serious mobility issues, can handle the occasional gradient and possess a pair of comfortable shoes, you will find this no problem at all. Plus, in order to keep up our energy levels, I do like to factor in the occasional coffee and cake stop!
Sunrise / Sunset: 7.30 / 4.15
Experience Level: Beginner upwards. Other than my Creative Visions workshops, all are aimed at the beginner who needs hands-on tuition to the professional who requires just to be guided to locations but who would also enjoy being in the company of other like-minded photogr
Equipment needed: Keeping it light is the key when working in the city so just a couple of lenses from wide-angle to telephoto would be required, and although a polarising filter, ND and ND grads would be useful, they are by no means essential. However, for those early morning and night shoots, a lightweight tripod most certainly is! An extensive checklist will be sent to everyone several months before the tour.
Additional info:

Special dietary requirements/allergens
Prague is as developed as any other European country but it is relatively new to the concept of vegetarianism and especially veganism. They are big meat-eaters so although there will be a few vegetarian options, being 'flexitarian' would certainly make your life that much easier! If you're a strict vegan then I am afraid this tour will not be for you as vegan options are either rare or extremely limited. Also, should you have strict allergy requirements then I'm afraid the same applies.

This is a very rare opportunity to accompany and learn from someone who considers Prague to be his second home. Having visited this amazing city on no fewer than 70 occasions over the last 20+ years, there can't be many photographers who are as well acquainted. During this Prague photography workshop, I will lead you around this enchanting city, both by day and by night, photographing many of its icons including Charles Bridge, St Vitus Cathedral and Prague Castle as well as lesser-known, anonymous locations, too. With both wide-angle and telephoto lenses, we will look at capturing vistas, close-ups of details and, perhaps, even venturing into the world of long and multiple exposure. Prague also lends itself beautifully to black-and-white photography, and with my guidance, you are sure to return home with some stunning photographs. I hope you can join me!

PRE-WORKSHOP VIDEO CALL
Prior to the day, at a mutually convenient time, we will have a brief video call to discuss what you would like to gain from the workshop, and through viewing a small selection of your images I can gain an understanding of your experience and therefore tailor the workshop accordingly.

TUITION, CRITIQUES & TUTORIALS
Unlike the Prague tour, this is classed as a workshop which means that as a result, you will receive as much tuition as you would like or feel that you need. My laptop will also be my constant companion so at convenient times (over coffee, for example) I can review your photos and give suggestions on post-processing.

ABOUT PRAGUE
Known as The City of a Hundred Spires, Prague has, over the centuries, had what you might call a rather chequered history. From being ruled in the 1800s by the Habsburg Empire, Naxi Germany during WWII and eventually the Soviet Union until the Velvet Revolution of 1989, it was only as recently as 1993 that Czechoslovakia was peacefully divided into two independent states of the Czech and Slovak Republics. Throughout the ages, Prague has remained relatively unchanged and its eclectic mix of Baroque, Gothic and Renaissance architectural styles, cobbled lanes, synagogues, churches, a castle and a cathedral make this UNESCO World Heritage Site not only one of Europe's most beautiful cities but an absolute joy to wander around and photograph.

Vltava blue

Prague is stunning any time of the year but particularly so, I think, in autumn when visitor numbers are significantly lower, sunrise and sunset are neither too early nor too late and when there is a very real possibility of mist and fog, which, of course, is pure Manna from Heaven for the photographer!

POST-TOUR IMAGE REVIEW AND LIGHTROOM TUTORIAL
Following the tour and upon receiving half a dozen RAW files, I will provide a recorded critique and Lightroom edit. There will be no need for you to be present during this process, so you need not set any time aside. This will not only give you valuable feedback but it will, I hope, also provide ideas for processing your own photos.

To me, Prague truly reveals its beauty at night and in particular those quieter areas where you can relax and let your mind wander and create compositions of cobbled lanes and staircases under the illumination of lamp light.

FINALLY...
Thank you for considering this One-to-One Prague photography workshop. Should you have any questions, no matter how small or insignificant they may seem, please don't hesitate to contact me. I'm here to help and ensure that you have a wonderful few days filled with inspiring photography.

Workshop info

Thank you for dropping by and considering attending a workshop. I love nothing more than to pass on to others the knowledge I have gained over the last 30 years as a professional photographer and 15 as a workshop and tour leader. My group sizes are always small ensuring a fun and friendly group dynamic, lots of 'personal space' in which to photograph without too much fear of others getting in your way and as much tuition as you would like or feel that you need. I hope you can join me!

Although under the 'umbrella' of Workshops, please note there is a difference between the three types that I offer. To avoid any confusion, please see below.

Workshops

Those taking place in the UK are classed as Workshops where learning is the primary aim, and in the case of those which are multi-day residential, very often include image critique and post-processing sessions.

Tours

Overseas trips are classed as Tours where the logistics are all taken care of and where the emphasis is on getting you to great locations at the best time of the day. Since these may include hide photography and working in cold, windy conditions where one-on-one tuition isn't practical, these are less hands-on. However, prior to the hide session or upon arriving at a location, I will give advice and suggestions on composition, lens selection and exposure.

Creative Visions

Creative Visions is a new concept that I have designed to specifically nurture your artistic growth. They can take place in either the UK or abroad combining both workshop and tour principles. There will be critique and post-processing tutorials and, most importantly, you will be encouraged to go beyond the record and representational and instead produce more intimate creative interpretations.
