I made this photograph at King's Wood, in Kent, in November 2018. It was one of those very rare occasions that might only happen once every few years where beautiful autumn colour coincides with a still, misty morning.
I arrived pre-dawn and just sat on a fallen tree waiting for the wood to slowly reveal itself. Although I was there primarily to photograph woodland scenes, I knew not exactly what I was going to encounter so took along everything plus the kitchen sink! This included my Nikon D810, 20mm, 24mm, 50mm and 70-200mm f/2.8 plus a 1.4x tele-converter, all of which were packed into the now discontinued Lowepro Photo Trekker Classic. Oh, yes, and the Manfrotto 055 tripod with Markins ball head. It was a truly wonderful morning, and such were the innumerable compositions on offer that time simply flew by. The next thing I knew it was lunchtime!
