Rain, rain and more rain!

Saturday 1st February 2014

It's been the wettest January, for some parts of the UK, since records began 100 years ago and so it'll come as no surprise to learn that for many photographers this hasn't been the most productive start to the year! In the SE we have had just a handful of frosts (maybe less!) and not the slightest hint of snow which, although may cause disruptions, nature photographers just love. Well, I do, anyway! I've tried to remain optimistic and seem to spend more time checking weather forecasts than doing anything else for the slightest opportunity of a sunrise or sunset. However, as illustrated in the final image, if you are flexible in your approach and keep an open mind, it's surprising the images that can be made, regardless of the conditions.

That said, I will be seeing snow this year with a trip to Poland on Monday for bison and at the end of the month to Finnish Lapland for a multitude of subjects in preparation for a tour in 2015 where, I hope, some of you will be able to join me.
